PingFederate Advanced Authentication

PingFederate Advanced Authentication (formerly PingLogin) is an optional add-on module for PingFederate that adds support for complex authentication use cases.

Before a user can perform a secure Internet single sign-on operation, they must authenticate. As use of identity federation continues to grow, some organizations are moving to more complex authentication mechanisms than those supported natively by PingFederate. PingFederate Advanced Authentication adds the ability to support advanced authentication devices and techniques including:

  • two-factor authentication, one-time passwords, USB keys, smartcards and biometric authentication
  • step-up authentication, whereby a user has to re-authenticate using a stronger mechanism to reach more sensitive information
  • authentication routing for organizations with multiple authentication mechanisms and identity stores.

Built on standards with a focus on flexibility and extensibility, PingFederate Advanced Authentication includes a configuration console, a runtime server that integrates tightly with PingFederate, and an integration SDK.

These Connectors include Quick Connection templates to simplify connection setup with pre-populated connection settings, user/account provisioning parameters, and SSO endpoint parameters.
